Overview

The Spot: Riverwalk Bar And Tavern, nestled along the scenic riverwalk in Reno, offers a compelling blend of classic American fare and laid-back tavern vibes. Located at 50 N Sierra St, this spot is as much about its riverside atmosphere as it is about its hearty, well-crafted dishes. Its clientele ranges from casual locals to travelers seeking a genuine, welcoming dining experience with a view.

The menu leans heavily on approachable comfort food with a creative twist. Signature offerings like the Carne Asada Tacos shine with bold, fresh flavors, proving to be a must-try for taco enthusiasts. The Revision IPA pairs naturally with savory options, especially the popular Poutine Fries and Loco Moco—a Hawaiian-inspired plate that combines a housemade beef patty, rice, gravy, and a sunny egg into a satisfying blend of textures and tastes. Their shrimp tacos also earn high praise, balancing crispy shells with fresh, flavorful seafood and thoughtful garnishes.

All-day brunch captures the heart of indulgence here. The Chilaquiles Eggs feature housemade tortilla chips topped with cheese, avocado, and red sauce, with optional proteins that elevate the dish. Sides like hand-cut fries, onion rings, and fried pickles complement mains perfectly, adding layers of crispiness and soul-satisfying crunch.

The Spot’s outdoor balcony stands out as a prime venue for diners wanting a relaxing meal accompanied by the gentle flow of the river. This space fosters a charming, social atmosphere that balances calm and vibrancy, making it suitable for both quiet lunches and lively evening gatherings. The music, while a bit loud at times, generally supports the tavern’s energetic yet approachable environment.

Service is a noted mixed bag with predominantly warm and attentive staff, often praised for engaging and helping guests feel at home. Even during busy times or unexpected staff shortages, the team shows resilience and professionalism, enhancing the overall experience. Some customers have found service less consistent, highlighting differing moments of attentiveness and pace, but these seem isolated rather than systemic.

In summary, The Spot: Riverwalk Bar And Tavern is a solid choice for anyone craving classic American comfort food in an inviting riverside setting. Its combination of flavorful dishes, friendly service, and a relaxed yet lively atmosphere makes it especially appealing for groups, visitors exploring Reno, or anyone looking to unwind with good food and good company.

We stopped in here for a late lunch/early dinner during our roadtrip. The staff was attentive and friendly. In spite of a surprise inspection, and several employees + management out for a snowboarding trip, the staff there handled the Wednesday afternoon crowd with ease. I had the chicken rice bowl. My husband had the fish and chips. Both were tasty and fresh. Our bartender was new and still learning, but he executed the drinks I ordered perfectly. I will definitely stop in here again!

I don't know where these great reviews came from, but this place is simply mediocre at best. The food was truly unremarkable, the service - one guy who spent too much time on his cell phone - and the setting (just too many rough edges) made that first visit our last. Probably a good place to get drunk, though. The restaurant directly across the river is far, far better and we've returned there several times already.

My colleagues and I were in town for business and needed a late dinner. The Spot was one of the only places open, and it turned out to be one of the most fun nights we've had. One Shot was an excellent waiter—friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home. The food was great, and sitting outside with a view of the river made the night even better. Highly recommend!

We actually ate 2 meals here during our vacation in Reno and both were equally wonderful. The wings were classic and done perfectly and the salad was very fresh and delicious. The shrimp tacos were amazing. Beer and wine were fabulous and the location right next to the river is awesome. Both times our servers were very engaging, super helpful, and made our experience very enjoyable!

I walked in by myself at 1:45pm on a Friday, and they did have a table on the balcony after a 7-minutes wait for someone to greet me. I ordered the salmon/rice plate for $25, and they asked how I'd like the salmon cooked, to which I replied "medium". After a roughly 20-minutes wait they brought out the plate. The dish was more of a rice/salad bowl with an OK-sized chunk of salmon on it. The fish was perfectly cooked to "medium". The seasoning was just what I expected based on the menu. So the food, although slightly on the expensive side, left nothing to be desired. The service was very friendly but unfortunately a bit too slow for what was really outside the lunch rush hour. The atmosphere on the balcony was great. Perhaps they could moderate the volume of their muzak a bit. It was hard to relax.

Taking a stroll along the river today, we stopped for a bite to eat. It was happy hour and I highly recommend. Good prices, great food and fantastic service! Our server was One Shot and he made the experience great! He brought water for our dog and libations for us. We also grabbed some happy hour bites and left satisfied. Can''t beat the view!

My partner and I have been here twice; when it was slow, and when it was super busy. Both times we’ve been impressed and appreciative of the staff and food. First time we just had drinks and apps on a slow day; the beer cheese for our pretzel bites were really good and we’re convinced it’s house made, even if it was a tad grainy. But the wait staff was super friendly and attentive. Then on the busy visit; they were communicative about the rush and were still checking on us. Overall, the food was well worth the wait. Not a terrible wait, they definitely felt the rush, but the smash burger was amazing and my partner’s shrimp tacos were delicious. I can’t wait for this to be one of our regular summer slots. And the beer list is great; I love local and craft beers and they have a fantastic selection. We can’t wait to come back!

So much fun!!! Beautiful spot, plenty of room for groups, and some unique menu options. Brunch all day?!? Yes, please! You had me at chilaquiles. My husband had the steak sandwich…not sure what that magic sauce was on there but it was delicious. (Yes, I tried his sandwich…and he helped finish my chilaquiles.) And of course, the location is perfect. The river walk is my favorite “place” in all of Reno….close to city plaza park and incredible view of the river. Will definitely be back!
